PROJECT DETAILS:

Demolition of the existing bridge (Bridge No. H-18-008) and partial removal and disposal of the existing abutments and wing walls. The installed superstructure consists of pre-stressed, pre-cast concrete NEXT-D beams with composite reinforced concrete deck and cast-in-place sidewalks, S3-TL4 rail system, and a Superpave asphalt wearing surface. The substructure consisted of integral abutments founded on driven steel piles. Highway approach work included new bituminous pavement, highway guard rail, granite curb, cement concrete sidewalk, wheelchair ramps, and slope treatment. The adjacent intersection of Wachusett Street and Quinapoxet Street was widened along the southern side of Quinapoxet Street to accommodate a dedicated left turn lane. All work was completed in two phases.
