LOCATION

Under this Contract MAS replaced the existing, deteriorated twin 90” CMP culverts conveying Beaver Brook beneath Beaver Brook Road with a new precast concrete bridge. The roadway cross section was slightly modified to provide two 10’-0” vehicular travel lanes with large 5’-0” shoulders. The improvements also included construction of new ADA / MAAB compliant pedestrian curb ramps, a proposed boat ramp, and pavement resurfacing within the project limits.

The work included installation of a 90" CMP bypass, sheet pile cofferdam, demolition of the existing twin culvert bridge, bridge excavation, installation of a new precast substructure and superstructure, streambed restoration, temporary and permanent utility pole and overhead wire relocations, temporary and permanent gas line relocations, a temporary utility bridge, earth excavation, pavement milling, superpave asphalt pavement, bridge rail and highway guardrail, cement concrete sidewalk, granite curb, utility modifications, tree protection, riprap, modified rockfill, and other incidental work.

All this work was achieved using Accelerated Bridge Techniques, during a single summer. MAS finished the project almost 1 month early, receiving the full incentive payment from MassDOT for the achievement.
