This MassDOT bridge replacement and corridor project included bicycle, pedestrian, and roadway and traffic improvements along a half-mile section of Bussey Street, from the city line of Boston to just south of Chauncey Street, in Dedham. The work primarily consisted of pavement milling and overlay, full depth construction at bridge approaches, sidewalk reconstruction, curb ramps, installation of new granite curb, stormwater improvements, signs and pavement markings, a flashing beacon, street lighting, and other various items to complete the improvements.
The superstructure replacement of Bridge No. D-05-010 Bussey Street over Mother Brook consisted of the removal of the existing bridge superstructure and the upper portion of the concrete abutments and wingwalls, then replacement with new reinforced concrete wall caps and a prestressed concrete deck beam superstructure. The work included installing highway guardrail transitions; excavation; excavation support; sidewalk construction; reinforced concrete moment slabs; metal bridge railing; and other various items.
