LOCATION

MAS completed construction of two new MBTA - Green Line Stations for the B Line along Commonwealth Avenue, adjacent to Boston University, between Babcock Street and Amory Street. The stations included the construction of four new 225’ long low-level platforms, 150’ of steel canopies at each platform, accessible walkways, communications and safety/security systems, lighting, signage, benches and other miscellaneous station elements.

The majority of this work was completed during a short-term shutdown, requiring around-the-clock activities. It is a great example of a successful partnership between the MBTA and MAS.

Coordination in Action

Early-on, an unexpected utility conflict was discovered, prompting a re-design of the station foundations. MAS worked closely with MBTA and JACOBS to expedite this process and accelerate operations to recover schedule.
